Information about how LO process your personal data.

When you take part in LO’s Summer Patrol, LO will process your personal data. This text gives you all the information that LO is under the obligation to give you about how we process your data.

Sommerpatruljen

LO will always process personal data in compliance with existing legislation. This includes the Personal Data Act and the EU General Data Protection Regulation, (GDPR) from the date that it enters into force.

Why do LO process your personal data?

The principal reason that LO process your personal data is to investigate whether you are ok at work and to inform you of your rights and obligations in the world of work. We also use your personal data to generate statistics and reports on the world of work. If you ask us to, we will also use your personal data to follow up your employment and working conditions.

What kind of information about you do LO collect?

LO only collect the personal data that are necessary for the purposes described above. We only collect the personal data that you provide during the in-persona interview, and we do not collect information about you from third parties.

The legal basis for LO’s collection and processing of personal data

LO will process your personal data on the basis of the replies you give during the interview.  When we use information about your trade union membership, if any, we only do so based on your consent to being interviewed.

Consequently, authorising LO to collect and use your personal information is always a voluntary act. You can withdraw your authorisation at any point in time by contacting us using the e-mail address or phone number at the bottom of the page.  Please note that this will not alter the legality of LO’s use of the information prior to your withdrawing your consent.

Sharing personal data with third parties

LO will never share your personal data to third parties except for the purpose of informing you of your rights and obligations in the world of work, and as input to statistics and report. Statistics and reports published by LO will never contain information that can be traced to you.

If you have consented to further follow-up, LO can share the necessary personal information about you with the relevant LO union to follow you up. You can find a list of LO-affiliated national unions at https://www.lo.no/Om-LO/LO-forbundene/.

Your personal data may also be shared with the Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority.

All persons working for LO in connection with the Summer Patrol are bound by professional secrecy in respect of information about you.

Data storage and deletion

LO will only store your personal data for as long as it is necessary for the purposes described above. Accordingly, LO will delete the stored data when the Summer Patrol has completed all post-campaign work, at the latest within one year. Information used in statistical complications will not be traceable to individual informants.

In the event that LO is ordered by law or a public authority to store your data for more than one year, LO will have to comply.

Your rights

You have the right of access, correction and deletion of your personal data. If you wish to do any of the above, please contact LO at the email address or phone number at the bottom of the page.

The right to have your data deleted  applies if you have withdrawn your consent, if it is no longer necessary for LO to store and process your data, and if LO has collected or processed your data in an unlawful manner.

If you want to complain against LO’s processing of your personal data, you can contact the Norwegian Data Protection Agency.
