Guidelines for the LO Anniversary fund
Applications for scholarships should be submitted by our partners(1) , on behalf of potential candidates.

- Scholarships will principally be awarded to union representatives, but may also be granted to administrative staff if desired by the applicant organisation, in which case the duration of the training will be linked to a contractual obligation to work a fixed period for the organisation.
- A full or partial scholarship may be awarded for skills upgrading.
- Scholarships will principally be awarded in the following areas:
- Negotiating skills
- Report research and preparation
- Economics and business administration skills
- Trade union economics and administrative skills
- Organisation theory
- The amount of the scholarship must be at a level corresponding to the cost of living in the country where the training is offered.
- The duration of the training should be from 2 – 6 months.
- The International Department will announce the existence of the Fund and the requirements among LO’s partners in the South, in Eastern and Central Europe, the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions and the international trade secretariats.
- The International Department will process the applications and submit recommendations to the Steering Committee of IFS (LO’s international trade union solidarity unit). The processing by IFS will provide the final recommendations to the Board of the Fund.
- Scholarships will be disbursed for the training period. If this period exceeds three months, the scholarship will be disbursed quarterly based on a progress report from the scholarship holder.
