Solidarity speech at the PGFTU's congress

Hans-Christian Gabrielsen, LO-Norway 2nd Vice-president, having his solidarity speech at the PGFTU's congress in Nablus, Palestine. He, on behalf of LO-Norway, demands that Norwegian authorities should ensure that The Government Pension Fund and Norwegian companies do not contribute to the occupation through trade and investments in companies that conduct their businesses entirely or partly on occupied territory.

LO also requests that import of goods from the settlements is prohibited and that Norwegian authorities take the initiative to an international boycott of such goods.

He underlines that the international community must put an end to Israel's continued violation of international law, and it is imperative that Norway leads by example and demand that the international community takes a clear lead. He also underlines that a resumption of the negotiations is urgent. LO believes that by recognizing Palestine as a state, we can contribute to increase pressure on the parties to advance a negotiated solution. He emphasis that the Palestinian people have the right to self-determination, and requesting that Norway recognizes Palestine an independent state!
